Jonathan Spaniol came out to one of my local drill days to shoot some footage. I usually like to start drill day with a little sit down chat, the message today “Play with a purpose”. Far too often I see divisional players lose a sense of purpose in a crucial part of a game at a tournament. That problems stems from practice where you are PREPARING for the tournament. If you practice and run through drills with no intensity, where will that intensity and drive be come game time? Play with a purpose.
Are you moving, shooting, or communicating while on the field? Some drills you just go through the motions and don’t take seriously. Mentally prepare yourself to do these drills. Put yourself in tournament mode or a scenario to make the drill that much more effective.
