The more and more I’ve reviewed old footage of snap shooting clinics and myself snap shooting, I’ve came to a big realization on gun and body positioning.
The reason I preach staying squared up is it allows us to easily switch sides and engage. A key factor I was missing is where my body weight is focused. If you notice, I’m always slightly leaning forward. Unless I’m in a super defensive position fighting for my life, I’ve engaged my body in almost a fighting-like stance. I’m looking to attack, whether I plan on moving or not. I’m positioning my body where I can easily switch sides or move down the field.
Because let’s be honest, whether I’m gun fighting or snap shooting, It is a fight. You want to be in a position to strike at any moment but also conserve energy as the fight duration is unknown.
